Interview with Katia Retta from Bentanji.com
Although some model collections from the biggest model sites out there are starting to provide Maxwell compatible files, Bentanji is one site which from the beginning provided all their models with Maxwell compatibility in mind. This is great for Maxwell users, especially since they feature really high quality models for reasonable prices. I didn’t know Bentanji existed until recently so I wanted to find out more about this site and see who are the people behind it. I talked with Katia Retta, an interior stylist on the Bentanji team:
Who is the team behind the site?
Our team is made up of stylists, 3D modelling trend-setters, and 3D artists. Modelling and advanced texturing processes are entrusted to our team in Moldavia, which is today capable of modelling any object in such a way that the end result faithfully reflects the original model of inspiration. Bentanji represents intangibility. We try to project the characteristics of physical, real and ‘tangible’ objects into a dimension that preserves those characteristics in time, in an intangible and immaterial way, in the virtual 3D world.
what motivated you to create maxwell render versions of the materials from the beginning?
We’ve chosen to support Maxwell Render because it is a render engine based on the physics of real light; its algorithms and equations reproduce the behavior of light in a way that is completely accurate. All the elements in Maxwell Render, such as, for example, light emitters, material shaders and cameras, etc., are entirely based on accurate physical models. Maxwell’s method of calculation always converges on the correct solution without introducing unnatural elements, insofar that it uses an unbiased rendering system. It is the render engine that enables you to link the realism of modelling with the photo realistic effect of the materials. It makes everything look more real.
Are all the product previews on the site rendered with Maxwell?
The sneak previews you’ll find on Bentanji’s website are made entirely with Maxwell Render.
What are your plans for future models? Do you have any plans for product bundles?
Bentanji is constantly developing and looking for new objects, compositions and textures. It is our stylists who research trending products, compositions and moods. Constant research is one of our defining features. It helps us to carefully select our items, always ready to amaze. An interesting challenge that requires instinct, the ability to visualize the whole, solid methods, and an understanding of the mechanisms that regulate this market. In the future we will be offering discounts on specific types and categories of products on the website. In the future we are looking to produce packets or libraries subdivided by genre or mood.
Some of your Maxwell models (those listed as 3dsMax + Maxwell) have the mention “Request Info”. What does that entail to a potential buyer?
The Bentanji team is currently working on making versions of the objects available for all the most popular platforms, both as 3D management software and render engines. The information request tool is for pinning down the conversion priorities of the work group. A user requests the item, and the model for the platform in question will be made available. In the future we will try to make the library of objects available for two other render engines that produce realistic rendering (and are used a lot in these sectors), but not in time for 2016.
